Woman dies in "trotro" leaving behind two-year-old daughter

A woman whose identity is not yet known died in a commercial vehicle she boarded with her two-year-old daughter, Thursday. The Yamoransa police who confirmed the story said the deceased was traveling from Fosu in the Central Region to Takoradi in the Western Region when the unfortunate incident happened. Police Inspector Liberty Kobla told Adom FM’s Kafui Justice that other passengers in the car said they were waiting at the Fosu station for the vehicle to get full to start their journey when the deceased left her child to use the bathroom. Upon her return from the bathroom, she called a pure water seller to buy water, but before the seller could get to her, she fainted and died on the spot. The Inspector said the deceased was not carrying any form of identification or a cell phone for the driver or passengers to contact anyone. They, therefore, reported the incident to the police. Too much pornography in Ghana escalating rape cases – Ampaw

Ghanaian lawyer Maurice Ampaw has blamed the increasing incidents of rape and defilement to the proliferation of pornographic materials in the Ghanaian society. According to him,   those obscene materials had been common over the years yet authorities were not worried about it. “There is sexual impunity and indecency going on in this country [and] it is a community factor. There is nudity all over, pornographic materials are all over the internet, social media, radio, television. We are exposed to sexual impunity,” he said when commenting on the arrest of some 3 teenagers in connection with a rape incident of an 18-year-old last Friday. To him, it was the time the society frowned at those indecencies and parents held responsible for when their kids are exposed to such materials. The Ashanti Region police has picked up three young men suspected to have been part of the gang-rape leading to the sexual assault of a teenager at Bantama in the Kumasi metropolis. The three young men who are in police custody now are suspected to have taken part in the alleged affirmation gang rape of a teenage girl, a video of which has gone viral on social media. Many Ghanaians are outraged over the viral video in which five young men were seen forcibly having sex with the teenager. The video has been circulating on social media for close to 24 hours with the young men taking turns to rape the teenager in their room. 32-year-old woman beats son to death

Rosina Sam Woman, 32, is in the grip of the Kwabenya Police for allegedly beating her 11-year-old son to death last Saturday. The suspect, Rosina Sam, who owns a confectionery shop at Kwabenya, is said to have got angry with her son for misplacing GHc120 on an erand. The victim, Andrew Sam, a Primary Four pupil of the C&J Montessori at Kotobabi in Accra, was sent by his mother to buy mobile phone recharge cards worth GHc120 for her shop but he returned to report to her that the money had got missing. This cause the suspect to be very furious, hence, beat him to death. Two UEW Heads Found Guilty of Financial Malfeasance

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and the Finance Officer (FO), have been found guilty of procurement and other financial malfeasance by the High Court at Winneba. As a result, the  Vice Chancellor  Professor Mawutor Avoke, and Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie, Finance Officer have been automatically relieved of their positions at the university. A cost of Ghc8, 000 has also been awarded against the university. CHILDREN IN PROSTITUTION The Director of Social Welfare in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region, Mr. Daniel Wallace has disclosed that the high ascendancy rate of poverty in the fishing communities has led to a situation where children are engaging in prostitution. Mr. Daniel Wallace's comment throw more light on the arouse of child prostitution in the region which has got the nation talking.
